The treatments are varied. There is CBT which examines what you think, what you feel and how you respond to these with set behaviours. There is talking therapy where the past is discussed, which includes childhood experiences, to look for triggers happening in daily life that lead to depression. Awareness is the key to unlocking the patterns. There is Narrative Therapy that states the problem is the problem and not you. It also looks at dominant stories told over and over again without exploring new stories to dilute the negative influences. There are also ways of dealing with depression that does not involve talk, especially when clients are very stuck. A proper assessment will find the best ways of treating the depression. Help is here, just ask.
